Our business began in 1969 as United Warehouse, a small packaging operation in Leominster, Massachusetts, then a major plastics processing region for the country. In 1981, the family moved to Houston, Texas, to open UnitedDC. We were the first to offer contract packaging to the plastics industry. Today, as The UnitedCompanies, we have over 300 employees and package over 2 billion pounds of resin annually for some of the world’s foremost resin producers and plastic distributors. We are constantly seeking new and better ways to serve the plastics industry by providing Innovative Solutions for resin packaging, warehousing, processing, trucking, and related logistical services.
We are proud to say our clients include the world’s foremost resin producers and plastics distributors. A sampling of our client list includes:
Bamberger Polymers DuPont ExxonMobil Formosa Plastics Georgia Gulf ICD Oxyde Pinnacle Shin Tech Sinochem Westlake Polymers Corporation
At The UnitedCompanies, safety is our culture, not just a program. Our management and employees have earned over1,500 consecutive safe days at the DuPont Sabine River Works plant in 2000, with over 100 employees working 24 / 7 / 365.
Over the years, The UnitedCompanies have garnered a number of prestigious industry awards and recognitions, including:
Marc Levine was a founder and first committee chairperson for Operation Clean Sweep. We continue to adhere to these principles and guidelines today. We strive to recycle or reuse all of our packaging materials. We have minimized dust emissions with our patented closed loop transfer system.
Challenge A major resin producer called us with an emergency. Due to maintenance problems in their plant they needed 5 million pounds of product packaged within the next 10 days. The product was being produced when they called. In addition, they needed the film for the bags and were not able to get their suppliers to respond within the necessary time constraints.
Approach United immediately accepted the challenge. Using our strong ties within the industry, we were able to work with our film supplier to prioritize our run and produce the required film within 5 days.
Results Within 7 days all product was packaged. The client actually found that the quality of the bag film that we provided was superior to the product they had been using. As a result, United not only was selected as the packager of choice, but also was asked to continue supplying the bags and other packaging supplies and materials.
United responded to an emergency situation, accomplished the objective ahead of schedule, and acquired supplies of a superior quality and faster delivery that the client was able to procure on their own.
